Always check the phone number.

A copy of the Disney+ "enter your TV code" page, with a support number added. Search for the address instead of typing it and you can land here: the number rings a stranger's call centre, and the "fix" costs a setup fee or control of your computer.

Always checkThe real oneThe scam
1Where it livesCheck firstIs it the real company's or person's own address or number?

disneyplus.com is Disney+'s own site, and it has no phone number to call.

disneyplus-begin-code.com has Disney+ in its name, but Disney doesn't own it, and neither is the number.

2What it asks you to doDoes it want a password, a payment, a call, or a tap?

It asks for the code on your TV, and then to sign in.

It wants you to call a number when the code "doesn't work".

3How hard it pushesIs there a deadline, a threat, or a surprise charge?

No rush.

"Call now", "24/7", "toll free".

RememberType the address on your TV screen yourself instead of searching for it. Get a company's phone number from its own site or app, never from a search result.

Would you have spotted it?
