Always check the address.

A "relief fund" on a throwaway address that can't even keep its own name straight: the top says Hurricane Relief Fund, the text says Bright Horizon Children's Trust. Real charities show one registered name and a charity number.

1Where it livesCheck firstIs it the real company's or person's own address or number?

redcross.ca is the Canadian Red Cross's own site.

hurricane-relief-fund.online is a throwaway address, and the page calls itself by two different names.

2What it asks you to doDoes it want a password, a payment, a call, or a tap?

It asks for a gift and gives you a tax receipt.

It wants your card, with no charity number and no receipt.

3How hard it pushesIs there a deadline, a threat, or a surprise charge?

No countdown.

"Every hour counts", "children are waiting".

RememberAfter a disaster, give through a charity you know, by typing its address yourself. Never through a link in a post.
