The "search listing" renewal billFAKE INVOICE
A real scam people fell for this year, next to the real thing. The numbers mark the three things to check: hover or tap one to see what it tells you.
Hi Anne, your domain harbourbakery.ca is set to renew automatically on Nov 12 for $24.99 CAD.
We'll charge the card on file in your GoDaddy account. You don't need to do anything.
To change your renewal settings, sign in to your GoDaddy account.
FINAL NOTICE. Domain: harbourbakery.ca. Your search engine registration expires on Oct 18.
Term: 12 months. Amount due: $89.00. Invoice No. DRS-44120.
If payment is not received by the due date, your listing will be cancelled and your site may lose visibility. We accept Visa and Mastercard.
Always check the sender.
It looks like a bill for your website address, but it comes from a company you never signed up with, selling a "search engine listing" you don't need. These bills hope busy owners pay without checking.
renewals@godaddy.com is the company you bought your address from.
notices@domain-registry-services.net is a company you never used.
Nothing: your address renews on its own with the card you already gave GoDaddy.
Pay $89 by card for a "search engine registration".
A month's notice, and you can turn it off.
"URGENT", "final notice", and your site "may lose visibility".
RememberOnly pay renewals to the company you bought your website address from. Check your own account there, not the email.
